As part of the Ballarat Line Upgrade and Regional Rail Revival project, TellFX collaborated with Suresign to design and deliver five freestanding totems that displays the traditional Indigenous seasons of Victoria and the Kulin Nations – the Traditional Custodians of the land on which the stations sit.

The Kulin seasonal calendar is guided by environmental cues such as plant flowering, animal behaviours, the stars, and the shifting angles of the sun. To bring this to life, Warrnambool artists Fiona Clarke and Ken McKean created a series of artworks for each upgraded station, including Wendouree, Ballan, Bacchus Marsh, Rockbank and Ballarat.

Working closely with Melbourne Museum and Suresign, TellFX designed the artwork for the corten steel totems with vitreous enamel panels that showcase these stories and artworks. Each sign panel highlights the Indigenous heritage embedded within the station precincts, offering commuters and visitors an opportunity to connect with Indigenous culture, and history.
